Who We Are
NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.
What started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979 has blossomed into the nation’s leading voice on mental health. Today, we are an association of hundreds of local affiliates, state organizations and volunteers who work in your community to raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need of assistance in dealing with mental health.
What We Do
We educate. Offered in thousands of communities across America through our NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates, our education programs ensure hundreds of thousands of families, individuals and educators get the support and information they need about mental health, mental illness, crisis and support.
We advocate. NAMI shapes the national public policy landscape for people with mental illness and their families and provides grassroots volunteer leaders with the tools, resources and skills necessary to save mental health in all states.
We listen. Our toll-free NAMI HelpLine allows us to respond personally to hundreds of thousands of requests each year, providing free referral, information and support—a much-needed lifeline for many.
We lead. Public awareness events and activities, including Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW), NAMIWalks and other efforts, successfully combat stigma and encourage understanding. NAMI works with reporters on a daily basis to make sure our country understands how important mental health is.

At Banner Churchill Community Hospital, we want to provide you with a patient experience that is unsurpassed in clinical quality and service. We encourage patients and families to be involved in all aspects of your care and treatment.
We believe that family and friends play an important part in a patient’s recovery, and we encourage visits with patients. From 2 to 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. we ask all guests to honor our patient quiet time. This is to allow our patients sleep and healing time.
We are pleased to offer guest wireless services to our patients and their family. Your own laptop or electronic device is needed. Hospital computers are not available for this use.
Patients, guests and their families can get a meal in the cafeteria. Snacks and beverages are available from vending machines also located in the cafeteria.

Crisis Call Center’s 24-hour crisis line often serves as the first point of contact for individuals who are seeking help, support, and information. Crisis can affect anyone at any time. The need for emotional support or referral assistance is something most individuals encounter at some point in their lives. Staff and volunteers are available 24/7/365 to help individuals discover the skills and resources that they uniquely possess that allow them to develop solutions to maximize self-sufficiency.
If people have the opportunity to talk while experiencing a crisis, the risk of harm to self or others is greatly diminished. Immediate support during a crisis has also been shown to greatly reduce occurrences of abuse and neglect. One of the biggest reasons why our callers appreciate our crisis lines is the anonymous and confidential nature of the free service available to ANYONE at ANYTIME in need of assistance. During times of crisis, people often feel more comfortable talking to someone they don’t know, enabling them to discuss feelings and concerns in a way that may differ from talking with friends and family members.
Crisis Call Center’s 24-hour crisis line is here to provide a safe, non-judgmental source of support for individuals in any type of crisis. In addition to our 24-hour crisis hotline, we also offer crisis intervention through text messaging.
The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a 24-hour, toll-free suicide prevention service available to anyone in suicidal crisis. If you need immediate assistance, please dial: 1-800-273-8255 (TALK)
All calls to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline are answered by local crisis centers belonging to the national network. Crisis Call Center is proud to be a member of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network.
Community And Youth Awareness Services
In addition to direct service support, Crisis Call Center is committed to help raise awareness on a variety of subjects that directly affect our community. Crisis Call Center is currently focusing our awareness activities on interpersonal violence prevention and bystander intervention skills through social media and the “Green Dot” awareness campaign.

Green Dot is a violence prevention program that focuses on making our community safer by empowering bystanders to become active members in reducing power-based personal violence including sexual assault, partner violence, stalking, bullying, and harassment.
