The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization with great political influence perpetuated by its grass-roots involvement in the legislation process from local districts to Capitol Hill. Legionnaires’ sense of obligation to community, state and nation drives an honest advocacy for veterans in Washington. The American Legion refers Veterans to the Veterans Affair office. The Veterans Affair office are able to provide the services below.

- Who is eligible?
- Individuals who are willing to work
- Individuals who reside on or near the boundaries of the following areas:
- Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe Reservation or Colony
- Churchill County/City of Fallon
- Lovelock Paiute Tribe Colony
- City of Lovelock
- Yomba Shoshone Tribe
- Must be an enrolled member of a Federally Recognized Tribe
- Individuals MUST have a physical or mental impairment that results in a substantial impediment to you receiving employment
- Require the need for Vocational Rehabilitation services to return to work
- Types of Services Provided
- Assist eligible participants to prepare for, obtain, and/or to retain jobs
- These services may include, but are not limited to:
- Assessments, evaluations, and diagnostic services
- Vocational and technical services and devices
- Job placements and retention services
- Transition services
- How the Program Works
- Fill out an application for services, they can be picked up at the Voc Rehab Office
- Your worker will then call you to set up and orientation date and time
- You and your worker will work together on developing a specialized plan to help you become self-sufficient
