Nevada Social Security Office
Social Security’s retirement program has been a basic part of American life for over 70 years. In addition to benefits for retired workers, Social Security provides financial support to younger workers and their families who face a loss of income due to disability or the death of a family wage earner. Your benefit amount is also affected by your age at the time you start receiving benefits. The earliest age at which Social Security benefits can be received without reduced is now 65.
You can start collecting your Social Security benefits as early as the age of 62, but if you take early retirement, your benefits will be reduced based on the number of months you will receive checks before you reach full retirement age. If your full retirement age is 65, the reduction for starting your Social Security at the age of 62 ranges from 20% – 30%.
